A variety of network issues can stop the ID card authentication service from per- forming correctly.
- Check the card reader’s IP address is correctly entered in the PrintUsage management page.
- Confirm the card reader’s IP address, gateway, DNS and other settings are correct. If you need to set the network gateway, be sure to set the correct gateway in order to ensure that the card reader can communicate normally with the management server.
- The management server is able to access the card reader through port 8600 using the UDP protocol. From the management server, perform a ping test to confirm that the device can be accessed on the network.
- Insert the CD-ROM that is included with the card reader and execute the CardReaderTest program to confirm that a connection can be made with the management server.
- Note: EMID and IC cards may display an incorrect card number in the management server. This is simply caused by an alternate number format used by this types of ID card. A setting in “Advanced Options” can be selected to correct this problem. Refer to Section 5.9 for more information.
